High Carbon Iron Based Wire proporties (Metco 8222)
Hi members,
We are planing to spray Metco 8222 for hard crome alternative and buld up coatings. Is any body spray this wire with electric arc spray system? I am pleased if you answer these questios soon. 1-What is the max thicknesses ? 2-What is the boanding proporties? 3-Can we apply this wire without bond coat? (With grit blasting and maybe do other surface preparation steps) 4-What is the max hardnesses about this wire? Best regards Good days ![]()

Hi Metallurgy_eng
1. I think probably in excess of 2mm 2/3. Not sure on value, but we sprayed without bond coat onto well prepared substrates with no problems. 4 If I remember correctly (it was nearly 15 years ago) it was very hard 1000+ HV/0.3. Hmm ı check the bulltein the max thichness is 5 mm, the bond is 9500 mpa and telling self bonding proporties. The hardness is 48-50.
But thank you ur helping. Good daysss
