Surface hardening [steel + steel alloys]
Greetings.
I've been wondering if anyone in the surface engineering community has any experience with surface hardening? I'm trying to find out whether boronizing (temp. range 750 to 950°C according to source) is fit for austenitic stainless steels (such as grade 304) because I have read somewhere that austenitic steels are not heat-treatable. Is that true? If so, how can you case-harden stainless steels? | |||
