Spray Rate
Dear Gordon,
Need your help. How can we calculate the spray rate for stellite 6, WCCo/Cr, CrC and others materials?. Can you give me the details or formula to calculate our cost while doing HVOF? I need to represent it to my bosses. Kindly advice. Regards, Minja |

RE: Spray Rate
Hi Minja
Spray rate is usually part of the process parameters and to establish the best spray rate for your particular needs really requires process/coating development work. No doubt that theoretical formula/models exist, but doubt they are very practical. I got a feeling you are after powder consumption as a posed to spray rate The best way is from practical experience or doing trial runs - failing this, information from your powder product bulletin/equipment process manual may allow you to estimate powder required for a specific job. Look for "Powder Required lb/ft2/0.001" (kg/m2/0.1mm)" and if time is important "Coverage ft2/hr/0.001" (m2/hr/0.1mm)". If these are not shown then then same calculations can be made from spray rate, deposit efficiency and coating weight/density.Links may give info surface-speed-t-69.html wc-co16-coating-problem-enquiry-t-226.html Regards Gordon www.gordonengland.co.uk www.surfaceengineer.co.uk Photography Obsession |
