Coating of carbon fiber parts
Hi
referring to this article, have we a proven technology to do that now, or it still is an academic work? I'm interested to make a carbon fiber tube with ceramic coat on the external surface, then grinded/lapped to reach a good surface roughness, cylindricity and fixed tolerance is there a way to do it? many thanks | |||

RE: Coating of carbon fiber parts
Hi Nick
There are many coating method in order to do this application, and is normally used in several applications, like fuselage coatings on aircraft applications, both as electro wave shielding or freeting, special artistical bronze, brass or copper coatings on fiber glass or carbon panels or concrete, etc., this coatings could be done by several technologies like Wire HVOF, Ethanol HVOF, with APS is possible too, but as the spray temperature is very high, It take to much time to spray, and is necessary to maintain a very low coating temperature, I did many coatins for special applications on graphite rollers.
