Hi Joe
Rubi stone or ruby is a form of aluminium oxide and will be very much harder than steel hardened to 60 HRc. Ruby is too hard to be measured using the Rockwell C scale, so to compare: 60 HRc will be roughly equivalent to 700 HV (Vickers Hardness), ruby will be roughly 2000+ HV.
