Posted by: Arturas - 07-11-2007, 05:24 PM - Forum: Surface Engineering Threads - Replies (2)

Hello,
I have question about two fused coatings NiCrBSi and NiCrBSi+WC. The fused part is roll which transport various shapes steel slabs , stick and ... . There are constant impact of them to coating, temperature of them 800-1100C, part become heated to 200C, steam of water at the same time. Which coating will be better and why I need answer if it is possible WHY?

  WC-Co16 coating problem enquiry
Posted by: howied - 07-11-2007, 10:08 AM - Forum: Surface Engineering Threads - Replies (8)

Hi all,

Anyone here having any idea about RR?s coating application?

Anyway, I am spraying with METCO 73F-NS-2 to MSRR9507/1, which is WC-16Co powder.

I found that there is micro cracking among coating; I suspect that it is because deposit efficiency is 0.00075? per pass. May be too higher.

1, anyone can tell me the proper surface speed and traverse speed for this coating?
2, how to reduce micro cracking if you are facing this problem?
3, how to adjust to reduce deposit efficiency?

  Colour TBC
Posted by: Rogier - 06-29-2007, 02:09 PM - Forum: Surface Engineering Threads - Replies (8)

Hi all,

My question is about the colour of TBC. If I understand correctly, this has to do with (reaction) stoichiometry.

When Zr0(2) is formed (using plasma spraying for example), not all Zr reacts with oxygen, resulting in non-stoichiometric solid, for example ZrO(1,95), a softgray coloured TBC. When heating the TBC in an oven (for about an hour at 600 degrees Celsius), the rest of the Zr atoms will react with oxygen forming stoichiometric ZrO(2), a white coloured TBC.

When heating the TBC longer and/or at higher temperatures the TBC will become yellow-white coloured. This is strange to me as I thought it's not possible to form non-stoichiometric ZrO(2,05), as all Zr is bonded...

Can anybody explain this to me? I probably didn't describe my question really clear, but I assume you will understand what I mean.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Rogier

Cool Metco FMR unit conversion
Posted by: TintinMilou - 06-29-2007, 01:28 PM - Forum: Surface Engineering Threads - Replies (5)

I would like to convert FMR units in SCFH.
Metco DJ console flow meters show:

Air: SCFH=15.80x%
O2: SCFH=14.44x%

Are these equations OK ?

And for Hydrogen ??

Thank you
