Sealer
Hello,
I am trying to find the most suitable sealer for ceramic coating.
Rolleyes It is still the same paper dryer roll - very aggresive corrosive environment .
There for such applications I found two - Metcoseal ERS, Metcoseal URS sealers. But which one is better I dont know Ashamed0002 Maybe someone have experience with them and can give advise?
Best regards
Arturas

Hello,
You can try on a sample Loctite 290 too, after warming the ceramic coating between 110 and 150 C.
After, remove the film over the coating by polishing.

Hello Vevecaz and Arturas,

Even I am looking for a sealant for Ceramic Coatings.

Loctite 290 that Vevecaz suggested, specification says that it needs anaerobic conditions for curing. Have you tried this already? what was your experience with this? can this be sprayed with the pneumatic paint spray gun?

My other concern is that L290 is meant for fastening and sealing of threads and they are not expected to come in contact with very corrosive or reactive chemicals/surrounding conditions. If they are used for sealing ceramic coating, they will be exposed to the same environement that the coating is subjected to. How can one be sure that the ingredients of Loctite 290 do not react to the surrounding conditions and affect the entire process in an unexpected way?!

Arturas, did you happen to find more options for your sealing application?

Can anybody suggest other sealer manufacturers (other than Metco and Praxair) for this application?

Thanks for your inputs.

Regards

Hi,
There are series of polymeric thermal spray coatings materials available with generic names and covering a wide range of wear & corrosion resistance properties. You can select the right one for your application and use the same as sealant.

Hi,

Here in Holland and Belgium, several large manufacturers of Hydraulic Plungers are busy daily with ceramic plungers. Ceramics like Metco 130 and Cr2O3/Tio2. They all use Loctite 290 since years. Be carefull, you need the correct procedure for applying.
I have all the info, you can contact me (off line?).
