Question upgradation of HVOF system.
Dear Forum,

We have HVOF spray system with following components

1) Flow meter DJFW - Sulzer Metco

2) Powder feeder 9MP-DJ - Sulzer Metco

3) Spray gun DJ1000 - Sulzer Metco

We use gaseus fuel. It gives porosity level around 10%.
We want to upgrade it into liquid fuel system.
Can we do it?
Do we have to change all components or only gpray gun?
can existing spray gun can be used with liquid fuel?
we want porosity level <1%.
is it possible to do so?

please help.

RE: upgradation of HVOF system.
I don't think that you will be able to use any of the items that you have other than the 9MP powder feeder.

However, if you are looking for a complete liquid fuel HVOF system, please consider the system supplied by Metallisation. We have a recently launched a new pistol and control system. If required, we can and have integrated the control of the powder feeder into our system.

Good luck.

Hi Dibyendu

Yes, I think Stuart is right. The DJ1000 is very difficult to modify/upgrade even to other gas fuel systems. I think liquid fuel conversion will not be possible. The powder feeder though is compatible with many systems. You will need to consider getting a new gun and control console.

I would just keep the DJ1000 for the heavy production based jobs the equipment was designed for. A good work horse and in my experience generally produced good coatings of around 1-3% porosity, though not as good as the more recent higher velocity systems.

hi dibyendudhara
-are you sure that porosity you have is coming from gaseus fuel?
-I don t know sulser metco materiel but I think it s possible to upgrade it into liquid fuel system making independent regulation system for it if sulser mitco hasn t pre introduce an optional system for liquid fuel
-porosity level :yes it s possible to get less than 1/100 if all parametrs are right and your materiel is good
I have got it coating WC Co cr on gates for oil with jp 5000 two years ago for our shop qualification.
good luck
