RE: Spray fused coating cracks
Hi Arturas ,

The base material is en353.

We are using Hoganas 1250 for 50 hrc coating.

And Hoganas 1360-20 for 60 hrc coating .

We are fusing using a ocy-acetylene torch.

I think we are not over heating it, because the 50 hrc coating s are turning out fine.

And

There is no sagging of melted material or blow holes or any sign of defect during or after fusing.

The line shows up only after the finishing operation and only with the 60hrc coating.

Regards
Abhay
And the

The coating thickness is 0.4mm per side,

This includes the finishing allowance

Coating thickness after finishing is 0.2 mm

Abhay

Hi,

Is this plunger for glass industry?Smile

Did you tried 1260? As i know there are some diference between 12... and 13..., The problem is not cooling I still think that you overheat Smile. You can find a lot of video on youtube with answers that you are looking for.... correct heating , fusing, cooling and so on.

Next important thing what you should try it is different powder with the same hardness of course if it is possible due other properties of coating . different powders have different sensitivity to cracking.

If there are still problems send me short video how you do spraying and fusing...

Hi Arturas,

Yes it the plunger component.

seems you have an experience with this component.

the difference between the 12xx(36 to 106 micron) and 13xx(45 to 125 micron) is the particle size range, at least that is what the company broucher says.

how can i know the over heating stage in fusing,is there any color change i am missing, can you send me a link where the fusing color changes are described.

on what criteria should i select another powder, what kind of chemical composition and particle size should i be looking for.

Thanks & Regards,

Abhay
Here are the composition of the powders

i am using 1250-00 and 1360-20

powder particle c% si% b% fe% cr% ni% mo% other hrc hv
name size

1250-00 36-106 0.45 3.9 2.3 2.9 11.0 Bal. – – 51** 570**

1360-00 45-125 0.75 4.3 3.1 3.7 14.8 Bal. – – 61** 790**

1360-20 45-125 0.90 4.3 3.3 4.2 16.3 Bal. – – 62** 820**

is there any thing i should take care of.

Abhay

RE: Spray fused coating cracks
Hi,
Try to preheat detail with another torch before fusing.
When coating start shine like a mirror you should immediately move torch, and not to keep it over fused place.
Use minimum flow rate of gas torch
