I will not deny this scenario, but it is does depend somewhat on the application. Not sure I've had experience with this particular plasma gun, but drawing from experience using similar narrow bore plasma spraying guns I will make some general comments:
* These specialised guns can produced coating quality results
approaching that of normal plasma guns (9MB, F4 etc) under ideal conditions. But the intention is for these guns to go into places where the standard plasma guns physically can not fit.
* Narrow bore spraying may involve very short spray distances, maybe at extremes of 10mm, which is a far cry from the usual ideal 50mm+ spray distances usually used.
* Spraying in enclosed areas has its problems with recycling all the crap (sorry, could not think of a better term) that does not stick on first impact (think what happens to the excess material not included in the deposit efficiency) back into coating.
* Spraying in enclosed areas and with short spray distance can produce problems with temperature control.
With all the above mentioned problems you can not expect to get the same coatings as from standard/ideal plasma spraying, but hopefully coatings fit for purpose are created.
If your coatings have not been previously proved, then yes you may have nightmares developing the process, but then that's what makes (for some of us) thermal spraying an interesting and challenging subject
