Black coated aluminum fin & Hydrophilic coated aluminum fin comparison
Dear all my friends,
Pls help me. What is the difference between black coated aluminum fin and hydrophilic coated aluminum fin? Which one better for corrosive resistance?

Thanks for your help

Hi Lumbantoruan

Sign0016 to the Surface Engineering Forum.

Are you referring to anodising treatments? or organic paint on type coatings?

Black anodised coating will be a dyed black and sealed.

An unsealed anodised coating will be hydrophilic - water loving.

All other things being equal, I would assume sealed black anodising would be more corrosion resistant. But there are a range of different anodising processes that give different coatings.

Talking about corrosion resistant is more complicated compare with coating system as per above, in other words corrosion against what kind of liquid ?, concentration of liquid ?, working temperature ? etc.
I am not familiar with anodizing technology but aluminium will has Aluminium Oxide in the surface that will resist against atmosphere or to protect the aluminium itself.

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Mr. Iwan Sedaryawan,
The AC system will be install at the seacoast Nusa Tenggara Timur.
We proposed to user unit AC with condensor coil HYDROPHILIC COATED ALUMINIUM FIN but the user want BLACK COATED ALUMINIUM FIN.
