You can get a total picture of hardness ranges of almost all types of alloys, plastics and ceramic coatings in my second book,viz 'Advanced Thermally Assisted Surface Engineering Processes, Kluwer Academic Publishings,(now taken over by Springer), 2004 , Ch19, Quality of the Engineered Surfaces,page 316, fig19.1
For any particular composition of brass, you need to see a textbook or get the literatures from Copper Development Association, London,
