producing of seamless pipe
Hello
I would like to discuss about producing of seamless pipe.
As I know first step is with piercing plug to produce a hollow in a billet; and after rolling hollow shell on plunger to produce a seamless pipe. During this second stage hollow shell is mounted on plunger. Is it possible to increase durability of this plunger using self fluxing alloys coating? or maybe there are other solutions in the world?
Thank You
Arturas

RE: producing of seamless pipe
Hi Arturas

I can remember doing some trial coatings for the piercing bullets. A molybdenum coating was thrown in as an outsider bet amongst chromium carbide, T800, fused NiCrBSi and other high temperature/wear coatings. Only molybdenum came back as a contender Cool As far as a plunger for the second stage I'm not sure. but it sounds worthy of doing some trial coatings.
