Rolleyes  metallizing hull tugboat
dear members
i am new in the forum and new in metallizing
i have 4 old metco flame gun ( model 4E and type Y) but new with many parts, but there is one problem to find a propane nozzle (P1/8)
where it's possible to find one or two?
what kind of wire and what tickness is the best for corrosion?
(99.9% zn or 85%zn and 15% al)
what is the best solution to clean and remove old grease in metco gearbox?
what kind of modern grease must i put in?
what kind of sand for the sand blasting unit?
i think it's enough for the first mail
thanks
best regards everybody
thierry

Hi thierry

Welcome to the Surface Engineering Forum.

Sulzer Metco would be the official provider of parts but I doubt whether they support this gun now.

Try these companies
(links dead)

Both Zn and ZnAl will work. Around 250 micrometres thickness typically. Aluminium could also be considered for this purpose.

Any safe degreasing solvent.

Metco gear lube or equivalent gearbox oil (not grease). Important - do not over fill.

Ideally alumina or chill iron grit for final blast before spraying. Use something cheaper to do the initial clean up.

Hi thierry

Is this a personal hobby type project? If so it would be nice to hear how your project progresses and good luck with all that hard work.

Hi Theirry,

How often do you have jobs that require zinc wire for metallizing?

Thanks

Hi Thierry,

We are a UK based metal spray equipment and consumables company (https://www.metallisation.com). When the time comes, please feel free to contact us for supply of wires.

Can't help with the spares though.

Good luck with your project. We have a few customers who have sprayed all or parts of ships with good success.
