Comparing 2 HVAF systems
Hello,

Is there anyone who is familiar with HVAF systems from Kermetico and Uniquecoat?
How do I choose between them? I am studying C7+AK7 from K and M3 from U, but not quite clear which is having obvious advantages.

It would be great if someone can help me out, or anyone can suggest another HVAF system.

Btw, I will be mainly working on tungsten carbide.

Thanks a lot. Toungue

Hi, devil72

You don't need C7+AK7, these two are intended for similar purposes, so you should choose one of them to compare.
C7 can work in HVAF or HVOF mode, AK7 and M3 are just HVAF.
Both manufacturers make other guns as well, but one of them has a wider line of products.

1. Technology. Any HVAF would spray tungsten carbide better than HVOF. Lower temperature and less oxygen in the process mean less oxidation and decarburisation. BUT some customers still have HVOF-spec coatings. If you have these - choose C7.
K and U have chosen different gun designs. Ask each supplier why his method is better - and listen carefully.
2. Compare investment costs. Not just systems. Ask both for the air requirements. The compressor is a significant part of the investment.
3. Comparу running costs. Ask both for spare part prices and spare part requirement per one ton of powder.
4. Ask both for the cost of spraying the same detail.
5. Ask for references and call the ones that are closer to your business.

Kind regards,
Vig

RE: Comparing 2 HVAF systems
one of the benefits of the C7 is it operates in both HVAF mode and HVOF modes, allowing for compliance to legacy procedures...

Also the C7 allows for splitting the air supply between cooling air and combustion air. The cooling air can often work off a shop compressor.... allowing for the compressor for the combustion to be smaller and less expensive.

BTW the powder feeder of Kermetico is more of a standard design, and easy to maintain.....
