HVOF Undercut Calculation
All

I have a question to pick your brains? How do you calculate the maximum undercut to be coated for a shaft or cylindrical rod? I cannot seem to find any information or rules of thumbs on this.

For example what would be the maximum alllwable undercut for a 4” shaft to be coated with tungsten carbide via HVOF?

Thanks in advance.

I was able to download this myself, do a search for it. It has a section on surface preparation, including undercut design.
