Can Stellite 12 HVOF sprayed coatings be fused to enhance its performance?

Hi Zanitech

I would say no, unless you are using Stellite SF12 which has additions of boron and silicon to make it a self-fluxing alloy.

RE: HVOF
I agree with Gordon, and add that the fusing is challenging.

RE: HVOF
All of the above is true

Stellite SF12 also has a higher nickel content than plain Stellite Rod the reason for this is to allow the operator to see the fusing process taking place. Nickel gets cherry red around 850° and Stellite 12 gets cherry red around 950-1000°

This is normally done with Flame Spray process not HVOF
