spray and fused coating
Hello,
I have question about two fused coatings NiCrBSi and NiCrBSi+WC. The fused part is roll which transport various shapes steel slabs , stick and ... . There are constant impact of them to coating, temperature of them 800-1100C, part become heated to 200C, steam of water at the same time. Which coating will be better and why I need answer if it is possible WHY?
Best regards
Arturas

RE: spray and fused coating
Hi Arturas

A fused NiCrBSi loaded with WC tungsten carbide certainly has the potential to significantly reduce abrasive wear. But, it is difficult to predict the effects of impact and corrosion/oxidation in your particular application. Hopefully, someone with first-hand experience can comment. I can only suggest you get your customer to trial run some rolls with the proviso that there is a potential for better life/performance with an unknown risk of premature failure compared to straight NiCrBSi coating. The only way really to know for sure is to try it.

The part are heated to 200C, but what is the temperature of the coating in contact with the slabs. If the coating is also 200C, then oxidation/corrosion would not be a problem. The influence of the impact and wear would be tested.
