jetkote powder lines burning
Hello all,
I am new to thermal spray, and I've had 4 powder lines burn in the last week, and we can't figure out why. The two prevailing theories are 1) leaks in the powder hopper/feeder connection or 2) too much hydrogen and the gun gets too hot. I will answer ANY questions anyone has to help resolve this issue. I really need the help! Thanks.

check for leaks in the hopper system. you have to have a certain amount of carrier gas flowing through the lines at all time, even before the gun lights. The positive pressure from the lines should keep them from melting. If there is not enough pressure the flame will make its way in the line a bit and melt it.

Be sure that carrier gas is flowing before you try to ignite the gun, and the pressure will be the indicated in spray parameters.
