Other than that its a No No

Hi Dear Kev
Thanks for your advice,
we have jetkote HVOF, would you please help me for adjust parameter such as persure and flow of O2,
presure and flow of Propan,
distance,
pressure and flow of gas carrier
and etc.
regards

RE: coating of Al2O3-TiO2 by HVOF
(11-30-2013, 11:01 AM)mlavar Wrote: Hi Dear Friends
can we apply Al2O3-Tio2(metco 130SF) by HVOF system, If OK please advice me about characteristic and parameters,
thanks
Dear Al2O3-Tio2 you have two options either with Plasma spray or with Powder flame spray (equivalent to 6PII or 5PII) systems. Coating applied with plasma spray will produce best results but again higher cost is involved. Coating produced with Powder flame spray system will be much economical but some porosity will be there.
Thanks

RE: coating of Al2O3-TiO2 by HVOF
I agree with all the above:
Top Gun = HV 2000 with acetylene is the only HVOF for Ceramics
Powder Flame torches can make a "coating" but its not in the same class of ceramics as the HVOF and of course APS
another idea is the Rokide Gun from Norton and a few other suppliers, which is relatively inexpensive, 20-25K USD (the consumables are expensive though) and it can make some very good coatings

70 lt/min ace
155 lt/min oxy
30 gr /min powder
15-20 lt/min Ar
200 mm long nozzle set (9mm diamention)

RE: coating of Al2O3-TiO2 by HVOF
The fragility of Al2O3-TiO2 series ceramic powders lead to math APS well but HVOF, because the relatively lower torch temp. and relatively higher spraying speed compared with APS, the high melt temp. ceramic powders cannot melt well and broken by impact force. At the moment, there is one way to use suspension and solution precursor HVOF spraying with dedicated powder feeder.
