coating aluminium composite panel

Hi all


i've been searching for a while for a solution to coat a special aluminium composite panel (ACP) called Hylite from Alcan.
The problem is that the composite is supplied by the manufacturer only in mill finish and we need more colors. They cannot assist with more details about how to coat it.

We want to use the panel for office furniture, so what is important for us:
- resistance to abrasion
- aesthetics
- available several colors (if only black available is still ok)

We tried several options but:
- powder coating is not appropriate as it requires around 200C while Hylite resists to 145C only. also the quality of the finish is not that good
- anodize - best for what we want, but very expensive
- other treatments like pvdf. this one we don't know too much, but seems like powder coating process, and also used for exteriors most.

Please let me know if you have an idea or recommendation for this. it is going already for more than 2 months with the search and so far just failures.

I think you want to do is a heavy duty and long life for your office furniture's. It is a bit hard to perfect this kind of paint if your not a pro in this kind of furnace. Caring for the office furniture is also in for the right paint and combination of hardeners.
