Thermal Spray Applicators --Segmentation

Hi Everyone,

I was just trying to clear up in my own mind the many different ways of segmenting the potential market for Thermal Spray as an Applicator of Coatings. Of course there is overlap here, any comments or thoughts on this.

There are so many applications of thermal spray, an applicator needs to be open minded to take advantage of opportunities but also needs focus to increase efficiency.

Maybe we could have a poll of the members on this site and see what their interest or activities involve...

Dear Steve,
My thinking is better from kind of thermal spray process such as : wire/powder flame, Arc Spray, HVOF, Plasma etc. and then come into application , let's said conventional process and modern process ( high temperature melting one).

Hi Stephen, sounds like a good idea. Many or should I say all companies I have experience with, tend towards a specialisation in application type or industry, whether through staff experience/skills, location close to certain industry hotspot or other etc. I know some like to think they are all rounders, but I think "do everything, master none" applies.

Hi Iwan, I think this would also be interesting, but may be separate from Stephens idea. An industry/application type may involve all of the processes. There are probably many cases where one process will be in competition to another, not necessarily one being better than the other. Anyway, I'm sure it could be interesting. An indication to which process is suited to which industry/application market segment would be useful.
