I have difficulty in achieving the TBS of 1500 Psi Min for a coating thickness of Bond Coat Metco 450ns - 0.004-0.008"thk and Top Coat Amdry 2010 - 0.080" thk min as per the Specification requirements. The results I got was avg 200- 600 psi.
My parameters for the Amdry 2010 is as follow:
Gun 9MB
Ar: 167 scfh
He: 26 scfh
carrier: 20.5 scfh
fdrt: 3.25"
Stand off: 3"
What is the best parameter to tweak in order increase the TBS? please help. appreciate much. Thanks
Hi alvliew,
It would also help to know your current and voltage values.
Typically 450NS does well with an Ar/H2 plasma at 500A and approximately 70 volts. This gives you a gross power ~ 35KW.
Try 500A
80-90 SCFH Ar
@20 H2, or, 15 He.
Carrier flow 8.0 SCFH and 9/lbs/hr.
Stand-off distance 5.0 inches.
Linear speed of 200 sfpm and a step size of 0.315", this should yield approximately 0.001" per cycle or 0.0005" per scan.
You may be too close at 3.0" and not giving enough dwell time to allow the particles to melt more uniformly and increase the cohesive strength within the coating.
Amdry 2010 can be sprayed at 212 SCFH and 6.0 SCFH H2 as per Metco's recommendations but with a linear speed of 250 SFPM with a 0.236" step size and 4.5" - 5.0" stand-off distance.
This should give you acceptable results.
