Remove HVOF Coating in airfoil surface blade
Good afternoon, guys.

I have case in my workshop that the coating from HVOF so hard to be remove with sand blasting alox 60.

This HVOF coating in gas turbine blade. I'm afraid if i increased the pressure there will be damage to the airfoil surface of blade.

Im seaching that abrasive water jet will be solve my case in HVOF coating.

Maybe any equipment or other method for remove the HVOF coating with a small posibility to damage in airfoil surface of blade ???

Thanks
Regards.

Once i had to re-coat these parts from cement plant hvof coated 88/12.
Blasting it was a waste of time. What i did was i heated it in furnace to 100 or 150 degrees C and threw them into water. The surface of the coating cracked into a web and was easy to remove mechanically like knife or smf like that.
I am not sure you can do this with turbine blades as this might change the blades mechanical properties in some undesired way.

Wow, what part you do it ??
Are you used another chemical solution when you rinse in your method ??

thanks.

Good afternoon. If yoiu do a search of the SEF, similar to http://www.gordonengland.co.uk/sef/searc...order=desc you can find much info on chemical stripping

Achmad Arifudin H,
Chemical Stripping is the best method for stripping coating on Turbine blades. or you need to have waterjet.
The Process will be, Sand Blasting, Stripping, Baking to remove putty also able identify the remaining coating,Pre weld Solution Heat treatment, Welding / cladding and Matching, Post weld HT , HVOF Spray, Solution and Age Heat treatment, Shot pinning....
If you want to know more about chemical Stripping send me a mail to demionkrishan@yahoo.com

Thanks for explain demion, but in my company we cant do chemical stripping, caused enviromental local regulatory. but i want to know more about water jet. maybe any case or sample HVOF coating removal by water jet cleaning.

Thank you.
