Post TBC sealant??
The coatings we apply are not only subject adherence to strict quality controls for coating integrity, but the customers demand a perfect cosmetic appearance (almost more important for the less educated customer). Is there a "clear coat" that can be applied to prevent "dirty finger prints" from staining the TBC coating?

Hi BQuinn

A clear silicone sealer may be worth consideration, but I think you will need get approvals to use it first. In heat of service the sealer will breakdown leaving traces of silicates in the coating - effects of which will need to be evaluated.

Hi BQuinn,

We used to apply TBC to RR engine turbine vanes. If I recall correctly we use to heat tint to burn of dirty prints (560oC 30 minutes) ... I think..Smile
Tippex is good stuff tooSmile

Jim,
Thanks. We also run our parts in an atmospheric gas fired furnace - not sure of temperature or duration. This treatment would "even out" any of the tiger striping - not sure how well it works for us with dirty prints. What is Tippex?

Happy0193 tricks of the trade. Enforcing the use of gloves for handling parts. Finger prints will be recorded in the offenders/crime register Toungue Seriously, though it is a quality issue the workforce need to take on board.
