Peel able carbon steel mask
Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on carbon-steel mask to make it more durable and become reusable. I don't know if Al-mask will work well, but i find from some literature that over spray material may form build-up on the surface of aluminium mask.
Some publications suggest low surface roughness and hardness of mask top coating (especially for HVOF).

I would like to know if anyone have ideas/had experience how to make metallic mask reusable/peel-able ?
Thanks,

Regards,
Phiciato

Most use some sort of graphite coating or moly coating on fixtures and the overspray will peel or wash off. Good example is metco antibond. It washes of with water and not toxic.

Aluminum masking works well, as long as the masking piece is thick enough. We use some aluminum masking pieces on a regular basis, and we re-use them many times. Aluminum masking pieces are cheap to build and easy to machine. I recommend it highly.

RE: Peel able carbon steel mask
I just know the HVOF, it is the short of high velocity oxyfuel spraying.
It is based on a high-pressure combustion system with a miniature rocket engines. Ultrasonic airflow spraying process, the mixture of fuel and oxygen to produce a temperature of 2 800 ° C (greater than 2 000 m / s), fuel, including kerosene, hydrogen, propylene, propane, acetylene, methyl acetylene, natural gas. The introduction of combustion in the material of heat and flame the powder, available in almost unlimited variety of substrate coating. This coating has high hardness and durability, and the matrix combined with a sturdy, large thickness range.

Hope the infomation is useful for you.
