Hi All,

Has anyone here ever successfully sprayed Moly Powder through a 5PII?

Castolin sell a powder (Metaceram 28095) for their DS8000 torch but haven't come across anything that has info on 5PII spraying or even 6PII?

Any info would be appreciated as always

RE: Molybdenum
Hi Kev

never tried that, but your specifications allow, wire flame spray, with a slow speed gearing is an old standard process.

Have you tried the moly powder?

The DS8000 SSMs package of chamber and nozzles are very precisely balanced to get good coating, not sure if you can get that from the 5PII

RE: Molybdenum
Hi Kev

Pure molybdenum powder will not produce good coatings through any flame spray processes, molybdenum has too high melting temperature.

Metaceram 28095 is a molybdenum based alloy with lower melting point so assume 5P and 6P would be capable of producing coating.

If you want pure molybdenum coating, then combustion wire or plasma spray.
