Metco 45C-NS
Dear All,
I'm trying to use Metco 45C-NS to make repair on diameter.
Before starting on the parts, I just sprayed on round specimen (used for tensile test) in order to evaluate the coating.
I foundproblem of cluster oxide on coating.
I arranged these set of parameters:

carrier gas Ar
Current A 650±15
carrier gas SLPM 3.0±2% Gun F4
spray angle 90
traverse speed mm/s 4,2
feed rate 42.5 gr/min
spray distance mm 135±5
speed rotation Rpm 52±1
surface speed m/min 75
Plasma Gas
Flusso gas primario (Ar) SLPM 47±2%
Flusso gas second. (H2) SLPM 10±2%

thickness 0.5- 0.6 mm.

What variation to parameters would you suggest in order to overcome this kind of problem?

Hi Giuiori

As 45C is a cobalt based powder with tungsten carbide, you must be sure that your test evaluation methot is ok, because some clusters oxides could be tunsten granes damaged during text preparation, as you use an F4 gun, and twin tipe powder feeder, you can use the following parameters
Nozzle type; ø 6mm
Injector diamater ø 1.8mm
Injector angle 90
Injector distance (radial) 6mm
Current 580 A
Recorded Voltage 64 V
Argon (Ar) 54 slpm
Hydrogen (H2) 10 slpm
Powder Feeder Unit Twin 10
Spreader / Suction piece type L/L
Powder carrier gas 2.8 slpm
Powder feed rate 48 g/min
Stirrer speed 60 RPM
Spray distance 120 mm
Surface speed 75 m/min
Forward speed 4 mm/rev
Best regards
Luigi

The carrier gas is way too high, 135scfh?...a typo for sure...10 scfh is more reasonable, and turn your amperage down to 400A.

A spray distance of 6 inches is preferred.
