MIL-STD-869D TYPE III
Hello All,

Does anyone know what type of system is used for:

MIL-STD-869D
Type III
Powder: Plasma process for spraying materials in a powder form utilizing a non-transferable electric arc with nitrogen. Argon and Helium as a secondary gas with or without hydrogen.

Can I use a 9MC console with 9MB gun and 9MP powder feeder?

The type of powder to be sprayed will be 73F-NS-1.

Hi,
for 73F-NS-1 powder, 9MB gun is of little use. You will not achieve good quality coatings with this device on this powder.

Hi

Plasma sprayed 73F-NS-1 will not be good quality when directly compared to an equivalent sprayed with HVOF. The statement "You will not achieve good quality coatings with this device on this powder" is a bit misleading as powder and device were developed for one another before HVOF became mainstream. For old specs demanding this old plasma coating the 9MB should be fine.
