Low hardness on AlTiN Coating

Hello everyone,

we have an issue with one of our PVD coatings: AlTiN.
In literature and on PVD suppliers websites you can see that AlTiN coatings can reach hardness around 3000-3500 HV (~30-35 GPa), but our coating has a hardness around 1500-1800 HV, does anyone have any idea why?

Some info:
-Target: AlTi 67/33 at%
-Deposition method: cathodic arc
