JP-8000 w/ Monel 400?

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading this forum for a while, but this is my first post. A really amazing forum!

I have been asked to look into the possibility of spraying some Monel 400 plasma spray powder with a Praxair JP-8000 HVOF system. The majority of our spray jobs are WC-Co-Cr and WC-Ni. The particle size is 140/400. Is something like this possible?

Hi Garth,

The powder you have is far too coarse. Praxair Tafa used to sell a 1264I, Monel 400 powder for the JP-5000 gun. The 1264I has been replaced with Ni-813-1 Powder. Suggest you contact your local Praxair TAFA sales guy for prices and parameters.

Many companies make Monel 400 in the particle size you will need in order to spray it with your JP8000. Make a few phone calls, and you can get multiple quotes.
