I need advise on control of metco 405 bond coat

I need some advise on how to put some process control on the spraying of Metco 405 wire bond coat.

You will find some basic testing in the Aerospace engine manuals, particularly RR. Normal testing is hardness, metallurgical and tensile bond. Are you auto manipulating the gun by robot, traverse/scanner, etc?

to the Surface Engineering Forum.

With manual hand spraying most of the process control is reliant on the operator. So it is important to have a well trained, skilled and conscientious operator. Monitoring results via thickness checks, metallography. bond strength tests etc.

You could automate the handling of the gun by using a lathe, traverse unit or robot etc. More advance spray equipment may allow you to automate/monitor gun parameters making process control a little less operator reliant.

I am using a a Metco 14E-P wire gun, propane fuel. 405 primer.Substrate is 420 stainless motor shafts about 2" in diam. Can anyone here troubleshoot this problem for me?
