How to spray combustion chamber liner
Dear People,
Could anyone help to direct what is the better equipment solution for spraying combustion chamber liner (ID). Especially the bond coat for the total TBC. I know that for spray TBC on blade we can use VPS or HVOF (the bond coat), but to spray ID of combustion chamber or transition piece, what equipment is better? Can HVOF have the proper ID gun? Or we have to use ID torch of APS? Thanks.

Dear,
You can use ID APS gun for spraying ID area. There is one model available for internal plasma coatings. Using HVOF i dont think it will work for applying TBC coating.
Thanks

Thank you Hari,
I heard someone using HVOF spraying bondcoat of TBC which can be better than APS sprayed bondcoat. So I thought if HVOF is also used on spraying bond coat of combustion chamber if they are large enough like 550mm in diameter, maybe DJ's extention gun can handle the ID spraying of MCrAlY bond? Anyone tried? Or APS spray the MCrAlY bond of combustion chamber is the fixed and recognized OEM method? Thanks.

Dear, HVOF sprayed coating is always less porous coating which I personally never suggest for bond coat purpose. after bond coat surface should be little rough so as to give proper adherence to the top coat.
Have a nice day!
