Heavy plate mill roll
Maybe it is impossible, but I am trying to spray and after fuse self fluxing coating on the roll which length 5000mm, diameter 450mm and weight 5000kg Happy0193 , but there is only one problem Ashamed0002 I don't know this material WC/Co/NiCrBSi really is suitable or not in this conditions ? I know that all such kind rolls which perform transporting of plates repair using welding processes. Rolls transport plates (temperature of plate from 600-800C) width up to 3 meters, length up to 10 meters and thickness from 10 to 200mm.
Thank you and waiting replay
Best regards

RE: Heavy plate mill roll
Dear Artruras,
I am really interested to know about the set up required to carry out spray and fuse application on such a huge roll.

RE: Heavy plate mill roll
I have seen this done, and even attempted some our selves with limited success. Years ago, about 20 years back, a company in Germany Gustav Weigen, if not mistaken was using Spray Fuse with Hardness of 60 HRc on similar parts.

We made a jig locally to do this type of application, which consisted of 8 fusing torches mounted in a ring traversing along the part. It is the same as fusing a small part, just bigger and incredibly dangerous. Would be easier to buy a plasma welding machine or weld with a FCAW wire to achieve a lower cost coating.....
