Good preparation for cast iron base material
Dear Friends,
Does anybody has good experiences for surface preparation for Cast Iron base materials, now our sand blasting (24#WA,4.5 bar air)process is not enough to increase surface situation, roughness of the substrate is not good, and seems contamination on the interface when check the metallographic after coating, so it is not for the bond strength, thanks!

As far as i know you might have to "bake" it at elevated temperatures to burn out oil residue prior to grit blasting.

Hi
what kind of cast iron is it?
hardness of base?
Is it new or used somewhere ( then where) cast iron?
spray gun?
coating type, properties of the coating you need to spray?

Dear Colud,
Thanks a lot for your comments, I also try to preheat the products (piston ring) with flame torch, so as your experiences, how about the temp could good or enough to sand blasting, I using 20# WA, thanks again.
