Elongation at fracture min 15%
Hello!

I need a coating that can withstand elongation at fracture of 15%. The enviroment contains alot of NaCl (10%) so low alloys are not to be considered.

Does anybody know the young's modulus for HVOF sprayed tungsten carbid e.g ?

Thanks for any help

Well I don't think any thermal spray coating will come any where near 15%.

What is the application for coating?

D-Gun WC/Co type coatings claimed:

Modulus of rupture: ~ 350 - 700 MPa
Modulus of Elasticity: ~ 150,000 - 200,000 MPa

I think HVOF will be in same sort of ball park.

Thanks for your reply Gordon!

Its for a rock bolt and i was thinking of HVOF (cause of the low porosity).

I'm sorry, english is not my first languange (norwegian). Are you saying that any thermal spray coating will break/rapture before 15% elongation?
