Detection of Coated Surface
Dear members,
I am investigating into methods to detect the presence of non-ferrous thermal spray coatings applied to non-ferrous substrates. It’s not necessary to determine the actual coating thickness, rather, to determine coating remnant after stripping processes. The types of thermal spray coatings range from aluminum, nickel, carbide, Inconel, and ceramics. The base materials range from M150 to Waspalloy, Inconel, Rene types, Titanium and Stainless.
Current methods used for coating detection include NDT (florescent with black light) and visual inspections.
Again, it is more important to determine the existence of coating remnants than actual thickness.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
