Cleaning Ceramic (Chrome oxide) coatings - as-sprayed

Good morning All members!

We have a client in the plastic manufacturing industry that uses a plasma as-sprayed Chrome oxide coating on one of their rolls - the reason for the as-sprayed surface is the required texture for the finished product.

They have however difficulty in cleaning the roll due to exposure to oil/grease and general handling issues (marks on roll is transferred to the product).

Is there any way that we can assist this client in cleaning this roll? Are there special cleaning agents/cleaning methods for ceramic coatings?

I would appreciate any feedback with regards to this isssue.

There are many ways to clean that. Depending on how much they want to spend. They can buy a vapor degreaser. Clean it with skysol acetone or other solvents with a rag.
I would suggest they do all that before hand so after spray it should be clean. Try and handle it with better care. Wrap it in paper if they have to move it around.
Skysol is safer then acetone. Used in aerospace and has mil specs.
