Better deposition without changing parameters and feedrate?
im new in plasma spray.
Currently working in a production line doing plasma spray.

Mainly using F4 gun for spraying.
Frequently using among metco 313, 601, 320..... and some hard coatings.

I would like to know is there anyways to improve the depostion buildup per cycle without changing the parameters and feedrate and able to get the required hardness?

Because for production, there will be time reduction every year.

Theres no engineer here to do process improvement, so the only way here is to work faster so that to be able to finish the part in time.

You can't increase the deposition without modifing some parameter. I would suggest reading the metco service bulletins, for the powder and gun you are using, there are lots of good infomation. Sometimes you can tweak the carrier gas flow to help but thats changing a parameter but doing that won't effect hardness if you don't adjust more then 5%. Your company should have an engineer to help you out since changing parameters can effect microstructure, hardness and bondstrength.

Cant approach my engineer about it.

My motive is to try and spray the part faster so we wont be that tired rushing for production.

what is the best angle to spray onto a flat surface test piece ?

When Plasma spraying flat surfaces the preferred angle is 90 degrees.

With the F4 there are increased rate parameters for some powders and also some utilising 2 hoppers/2 injectors for abradables. With abradable spraying there are some traverse speed adjustments that will increase deposition and minimise hotspots.

What current parameters are you following?
