Power plants use Babbitt bearings in many areas like ID fans, PA and FA fan bearings, turbine - thrust pad bearings etc
If you can pin point the usage area, I may be able to help you with the kind of Babbitt coating generally used as we have decent experience in doing the same

We've generally sprayed copper as base coat for Babbitt coatings and till date have never had any compliant from any customer
Is your requirement to coat on fresh shells or repair of babbit layer? Because these would require different treatments

If we've used the puddling method for Reba biting, we've always used tinning as the base coat. Tin soldering followed by babbit latest by puddling and then machining etc has always yielded good results. We've never checked the bond strength of these coatings, but the coating generally passes the ultrasonic test after the coating
For ARC spray, I'm not sure of AL- bronze or for that matter even Ni-Al and how much bond strength it can increase from a directly applied Babbitt layer. But for a good bond strength, it is also very important that the bearing surface ( shell) is freed from all oil and lubricants in the shell which requires a considerable amount of effort and patience!
