Abradable Coating Thickness limitation

1. In technical bulletin for Metco 313NS coating thickness limitation is None- can we go beyond 4mm thickness for lybrith seals in compressor section of gas turbine engines?

2. Are metco 312NS based abradable coatings compatible against alluminium alloy based rotors?

Please guide in this regard

1. Yes you can spray 313NS beyond 4mm.

2. I can't answer...I know for rotor path clearances using coatings similar to 312NS for Ni based alloys is compatible but with aluminum alloys I'm not sure. Ti-6Al-4V blades on Ni based abradables in a turbine compressor can be a fire hazard...so its best to have someone else with a better Material Engineering background consult you for the second question.
