3MB gun air cooling
Guys,

Currently im doing Top Coat for Combustion Liner by using 3MB gun. Does the flow rate of air cooling that attached with 3MB gun will effect on the coating result?

Please advise as im new in thermal spray.

Thanks

Regards
Azraf

RE: 3MB gun air cooling
Variations in cooling air flow definitely affect TBC coatings. Positioning jets correctly can minimise spent powder/overspray dust (turbulence) from becoming entrapped in the coating. But with combustion liners it needs to have somewhere to vent too. There are a few techniques to optimise the coating in this application. Conversely some engine manuals say not to use cooling but I have always found it critical to obtaining the best results.
