2500 HP Diesel Engine piston liner

Hi everyone,

I want to some advices about marine application.
we want to coat 2500 HP water cooled Diesel engine's cylinder piston liners. 2 - 3 kg/cm2 water cooling pressure is cyclating arround the liner, and it takes the outside temperature of the liner 90 C. And the max temp. inside the liner is 900 C.

After 600 hours the pitting corrosion occure outside the liner, and at the 700 hours the liner crack.

material of the liner is cast iron.
the problem is pitting corrosion and abrasion(erresion) on the liner.

We want to coat outside the liner and extend the service life.
what kind of material i must choice? for HVOF (CrC-NİCr, WC Co Cr .... ect?)

My first thought would be for a simple aluminium coating. I would consider this probably before HVOF stainless steels, inconels and hastelloys type coatings. I would not have thought abrasion/erosion in this situation would be severe enough to warrant carbide based coatings.
