Kiev/Contax range finder Jupiter 9 lens modification with Canon EOS EF mount.

Jupiter 9 modification with EOS mount adaptor (from EOS extension ring set) fitted Kiev/Contax range finder Jupiter 9 lens. Modification for use with Canon EOS DSLR.

Lens stripped down, old Kiev mount ground back leaving about 6mm left proud of shoulder. EOS mount and short ring taken from a cheap Chinese EOS lens extension tube. The short ring was ground slightly thinner so that lens fitted snugly. Difference in diameters was made up by applying tape so that lens and mount adapter had a tight fit (enough to stop rotation/movement when operating lens on camera. Lens reassembled minus range finder mechanism. Final adjustment to get infinity focus by grinding back one of the two lens group spacer rings (not very much adjustment here).

All grinding was done by hand with silicon carbide abrasive papers on a flat glass plate. Takes time, effort and some skill to keep flat and true. I took my time periodically reassembling lens and checking on camera for infinity focus to gauge how process was going.
