Jupiter-9 85mm F/2 MC M42 portrait short telephoto Russian lens.
This jupiter 9 is the later version - A manual M42 screw thread mount with "MC" multi-coated optics. It has a 2 ring pre-set aperture adjustment at the end of the lens, which can take a little time to get use to if unfamiliar. There are 15 aperture blades making a circular opening at all settings. The lens is very compact, similar to a wide aperture 50mm normal lens, but relatively heavy from its sturdy metal construction.
This J-9 is quite soft with "glowing" effects at the F/2 full opening, and this characteristic can be good in portraiture and for artistic effect. When stopped down to f/4 or f/5,6 the lens really becomes sharp.
