Strange moss-like balls on wild Dog Rose (Rosa canina) caused by a small gall wasp Diplolepsis rosae after laying eggs in the leaf buds or stem. The developing larvae stimulates a proliferation of abnormal growth called Robin’s Pincushions, Bedeguar Galls or Moss Galls. Farnham Park, Surrey, UK, autumn 2011.
