Hi Pierre
To a large extent you have answered your own question. Nozzle/cathode temperature and plasma gas condition are prime factors.
Assuming you are using the standard recommended hardware and parameters for your equipment, you will need to check:
1. Check that you are in fact using the correct hardware and parameters. Are you experiencing higher than normal voltage readings?
2. Plasma gas supply - is it of the required quality?
3. Check plasma gas lines, flow meters for leaks
4. Check for water leaks
5. Check cooling water flow
6. Check cooling water quality (scale build up in nozzle water channels?)
It may be good time to service and recalibrate your plasma system.
Regards Gordon
