: : Can anyone tell me if Hasteloy-C22 can be chromium Carbide Coated?
: Hasteloy-C22 (approx. nominal comp.22Cr,13Mo,3W,),can be coated with Cr-carbide( preferably mixed with Ni-Cr bond coat) by thermal spray processes such as HVOF/Plasma.Also PVD deposition of the carbide is possible alternative for thin film coating.
The simple answer is yes. Wc/Cr/Co can be applied to any alloy, ferrous or non-ferrous. The major concerns are Hardness ratings on the substrate ( material to be coated) and Expansion rate of substrate. Both issues can be determined and the application can be acheived by annealing ..sic. and proper dwell time on components with a high or rapid expansion rate. When expansion is a problem you should consider a suitable bond coat as mentioned.
