: Dear Gordon,
: Could you suggest a metal coating for the external surface of the milk silo's and the life that can be expected from the metal coating & sealer if any required.
: There is a chlorine Gas leakage in the near by area of the Silo's and also at the time of cleaning the SS pipelines, 1% Nitric Acid and 1% Costic Soda is used, this sometimes spills and falls on the Silo's.
: Could you suggest a coating for the Silo's in the above environment.
: Thanx,
: Vishal
Hi Vishal
Assuming these silo's are large in size I think zinc or possibly aluminium are going to be best. Under normal conditions these coatings can provide protection well in excess of 20 years depending on coating thickness.
The environment that you describe will attack these coatings. Sealing and painting with a good epoxy based system will probably be needed particularly in the areas of spillage.
Regards Gordon
