: : Does anyone out there know a suitable coefficient of friction (static or dynamic) for a valve seat ring coated with a nickel based tungsten carbide rubbing against a cast nickel-copper wedge? (This is a wedge gate valve in steam or seawater)
: : I'd appreciate your input.

: Hi Ken
: I doubt whether you will get any specific values for this combination without testing it for yourself. I would suspect the coefficient of friction will be not be particularly low. Are you experiencing problems with this combination of materials?
: Regards Gordon
My company actually originated this material combination (90%WC/10%Ni) - unfortunately, we didn't get a patent. I do have data regarding the coefficient of friction of dry and wet carbide against each other.
